UMPO.AC.ID – Universitas Muhammadiyah Ponorogo (UMPO) held a Workshop on International Ranking Preparation on Wednesday, December 10. This activity marks the university’s initial step in formulating strategies and performance mapping as preparation to achieve international recognition in higher education quality.
The First Vice Rector of UMPO, Dr. Dian Suluh Kusuma Dewi, MAP., stated that preparing for international ranking requires thorough readiness and cannot be carried out instantly. She highlighted the importance of having complete, systematic, and well-documented data from the beginning.
She further explained that moving toward international standards demands the right approach, including infrastructure improvement, document alignment, and the establishment of global collaborations. However, she emphasized that the first step can be initiated by optimizing existing resources while gradually expanding international partnership opportunities.
The workshop speaker, Dr. Mega Hidayati, MA., emphasized that international ranking is not merely a final target, but an indicator of university quality. Malaysia, she noted, serves as a good example of how universities support one another in enhancing academic reputation.
“Ranking is not the ultimate goal, but a tool to measure our position and quality. With clear indicators, we can recognize our strengths and identify areas that still require improvement,” she said.
She added that rankings reflect the contribution of higher education on a global scale, highlighting the need for increased international competitiveness.
