UMPO.AC.ID - The 59th Graduation Ceremony of Universitas Muhammadiyah Ponorogo (UMPO) became even more festive with a captivating performance of the traditional Indang Samasta Buana dance, presented gracefully by a group of new students.
This traditional dance, infused with modern elements, successfully captured the attention of the audience who filled the graduation hall. The dancers appeared elegant in refreshing blue and white contemporary-traditional costumes, beautifully blending local cultural heritage with a touch of modern artistry.
The Indang Samasta Buana dance carries a profound meaning, illustrating the importance of seeking knowledge as a path to wisdom and as a way to draw closer to the Creator. It also symbolizes the spirit of gratitude and the commitment to maintaining harmony in life — both among people and with the universe.
With its fluid and energetic movements paired with stunning costumes, the performance was more than just a visual spectacle; it was a cultural expression rich in noble values. Warm applause and enthusiastic appreciation from the audience reflected how the dance successfully added beauty and cultural depth to this year’s graduation celebration.
Through this remarkable Indang Samasta Buana performance, UMPO not only showcased its academic pride but also reaffirmed its dedication to preserving and promoting the nation’s art and cultural heritage.
For reference, UMPO’s 59th Graduation Ceremony for postgraduate, undergraduate, and diploma programs celebrated 1,109 graduates in two sessions, held in the morning and afternoon on October 25, 2025. The second session, held at the UMPO Expotorium, was attended by Minister of Primary and Secondary Education, Abdul Mu’ti.
