UMPO.AC.ID - The Student Certification Division (BSM) of Universitas Muhammadiyah Ponorogo (UMPO) organized a Paper-Based TOEFL ITP Test on Friday (date of implementation) at 1:00 PM WIB. This activity is a realization of the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between UMPO and Universitas Negeri Surabaya (UNESA), with the test conducted directly on the UMPO campus, allowing participants to take the test without having to travel to Surabaya.
In this inaugural session, 10 students and 2 lecturers participated. The student participants were enrolled in the English Certification Program under the Non-Professional Certification Division of the UMPO Student Certification Division.
According to Nurul Sri Wahyu I, M.Kes., Head of the Student Certification Division (BSM) at UMPO, the activity aims to provide easier access to the TOEFL test for the UMPO academic community.
"This is our first step in providing more accessible and affordable TOEFL testing, especially for UMPO students. Additionally, we want to show appreciation to outstanding students by offering them the opportunity to take the test free of charge," Nurul said.
The test also serves as a reward for students who achieve the required scores in the certification program. They are entitled to take the test at no cost as a form of recognition. However, the test is also open to all UMPO students and staff for a predetermined fee.
One of the main benefits of this test is its location—held on the UMPO campus—making it more efficient and convenient for participants.
Furthermore, Nurul explained that in the future, this program will not only target students but also the general public and all UMPO staff who require TOEFL certification.
"We hope this initiative will bring greater benefits, such as motivating students to improve their English skills, promoting UMPO as an official TOEFL test provider in the Ponorogo area, and effectively and efficiently facilitating TOEFL test needs for the UMPO academic community," she concluded.
This activity marks a promising start in the effort to enhance the quality of human resources within UMPO and the surrounding community through internationally standardized English proficiency.
