UMPO.AC.ID - A proud achievement has once again been made by students of the Early Childhood Education Teacher Education Program (PG-PAUD) at Universitas Muhammadiyah Ponorogo (UMPO) on the international stage. A student team consisting of Siti Khoirul Bariyah, Fadilla Zahwa Ismaputri, and Farah Syifa' Salsabila successfully won a Silver Medal at the International Teaching and Learning Invention Innovation Competition (ITaLIIC) 2025, organized by Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM), Pulau Pinang Branch, Malaysia.
Guided by their supervisor, Siti Fatimah, M.Pd, the PG-PAUD UMPO team presented an innovative work titled “From Story to Laboratory: Connecting The World of Fiction With STEM Reality For Young Learners” (STE180). The project introduces a STEM-based learning approach for early childhood education by integrating fictional stories with simple scientific experiments. This approach is designed to foster critical and creative thinking skills and to spark children's interest in science from an early age through the stories they love.
ITaLIIC 2025 is a prestigious international competition that brings together educators and innovators from around the world to showcase their best teaching and learning innovations. The Silver Medal awarded to UMPO students is clear proof that innovation in early childhood education can be both creative and globally recognized.
Head of the PG-PAUD Study Program at UMPO, Betty Yulia Wulansari, M.Pd, expressed her pride and appreciation for this outstanding achievement. “This accomplishment is a major source of motivation for our academic community to continue encouraging students to innovate in the field of early childhood education. We believe that storytelling and science can come together to shape children’s character and thinking skills from an early age,” she said.
With this achievement, Universitas Muhammadiyah Ponorogo, particularly the PG-PAUD Program, further strengthens its position as a center for early childhood education innovation both nationally and internationally.
