UMPO.AC.ID - The Electrical Engineering Study Program of Universitas Muhammadiyah Ponorogo (UMPO) proudly hosted the 2025 series of events by the Indonesian Forum of Higher Education in Electrical Engineering (FORTEI) Region VII East Java. The two-day agenda, held on August 28–29, 2025, featured a National Seminar, a Workshop on the New 7 Standards Instruments of LAM Teknik, and the Regional Working Meeting (Rakerwil) of FORTEI board members for the 2024–2026 period.
Head of UMPO’s Undergraduate Electrical Engineering Program, Didik Riyanto, S.T., M.T., warmly welcomed the participants in his opening remarks.
“Welcome to the Expotorium Building of Universitas Muhammadiyah Ponorogo. This event will run for two days, beginning with the national seminar, followed by the workshop on the new LAM Teknik instruments, and will conclude with the Rakerwil on August 29,” he said.
He further noted the strong enthusiasm shown by participants. A total of 90 papers were submitted for the national seminar, with 85 accepted for presentation. The event also included the signing of MoUs by 24 Electrical Engineering study programs across East Java, while the workshop gathered 50 participants, consisting of lecturers and heads of Electrical Engineering programs.
UMPO Rector, Dr. Rido Kurnianto, M.Ag., emphasized in his speech the crucial role of higher education in advancing the nation through knowledge.
“At every event like this, we proudly present Reog Ponorogo as part of our local excellence. Alhamdulillah, UMPO was accredited as ‘Excellent’ last year, partly due to our integration of local wisdom into the Tridharma of Higher Education,” he remarked.
The Rector also highlighted a milestone achievement in 2024, when Reog Ponorogo was inscribed by UNESCO as an Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity. He noted that this recognition was inseparable from UMPO’s academic studies, which explore its musical instruments, costumes, and the noble values embedded within the tradition.
“We are committed to positioning UMPO as a pillar in preserving and developing the art of Reog Ponorogo, while integrating local wisdom into higher education,” he added.
The FORTEI VII East Java series at UMPO also featured Prof. Dr. Eng. Aryuanto Soetedjo, S.T., M.T. (Professor of AI in Electrical Engineering, ITN Malang) as the keynote speaker for the seminar, and Ir. Khairul Anam, S.T., M.T., Ph.D. (Lecturer of Electrical Engineering, Universitas Jember) as the workshop speaker.
