UMPO.AC.ID – The Faculty of Engineering, Universitas Muhammadiyah Ponorogo (UMPO), distributed coffee seedlings to farmers in Ngrayun District, particularly in Ngrayun and Cepoko Villages.
Dean of the Faculty of Engineering, Edi Kurniawan, M.T, explained that the distribution of coffee seedlings was part of the university’s Community Service Program (Kuliah Kerja Nyata/KKN) conducted by students. The initiative also responded to the requests of local farmers who hoped for support in developing coffee cultivation.
“In addition to distributing seedlings, we are also collaborating with the Department of Agriculture, Food Security, and Fisheries of Ponorogo to provide insights on coffee cultivation management. It is also possible that we will look into post-harvest processing in the future,” Edi said.
He added that coffee plants already exist in the Ngrayun area. With the addition of new seedlings, it is expected that the plantation sector, especially coffee, will continue to grow and bring greater benefits to the community.
