UMPO.AC.ID Muhammadiyah Ponorogo University (UMPO) held a scholarship program socialization to Muhammadiyah Branch Leaders (PCM) and 'Aisyiyah Branch Leaders (PCA) throughout Ponorogo Regency on Sunday (8/6). This activity aims to introduce more closely the various UMPO scholarship programs as well as invite the Ponorogo community, especially Muhammadiyah and 'Aisyiyah cadres, to continue their studies at UMPO.
UMPO Rector, Dr. Rido Kurnianto, M.Ag in his speech invited Muhammadiyah leaders to take an active role in encouraging their children to continue their studies at UMPO. He emphasized the campus' commitment to providing inclusive and affordable higher education.
"Our principle is that no student should drop out of college just because of financial constraints. From this principle, the idea of 1000 scholarships was born to ensure the sustainability of student studies," said Rido.
Furthermore, Vice Rector I, Dr. Dian Suluh Kusuma Dewi, M.AP explained that UMPO has various scholarship programs for its 28 study programs. She also highlighted UMPO's readiness to face university-level accreditation which will be held later this month, from June 29 to July 1, 2025. She is optimistic that UMPO will achieve superior status.
"Currently, there are four study programs that have achieved superior accreditation. With careful preparation over the past few years, we believe UMPO is ready to compete with other campuses, even with state universities," She said.
In addition, She also denied the notion that studying at a private campus is always more expensive. According to him, private universities are now competing to provide scholarships and ease of financing in order to reach more students.
This socialization is an important step in strengthening the synergy between UMPO and the Muhammadiyah network in Ponorogo in advancing higher education based on progressive Islamic values.
